John Chellew has a Bachelor of Social Work and an Postgraduate Diploma in Family Therapy and over 20 years' professional experience in Child and Adolescent social work.
• Leading School Refusal Social Worker in Melbourne • Clinician, Speaker and Trainer in School Refusal • Accredited Mental Health Social Worker As a clinical Child, Adolescent and Family Social Worker, I am passionate about helping young people and their families achieve better emotional and mental health. In my work, I draw on a range of treatment modalities including cognitive-behavioural therapy, solution focused therapy, structural family therapy mindfulness and psycho-education with individuals, parents and groups for young men. In my practice I provide psychological services for children, adolescents and their families for a wide range of issues including: - school refusal - anxiety and phobias - depression - low self-esteem - drug and alcohol - social difficulties - offending behaviour - behavioural problems - self harm - family conflict - grief and loss - adjustment to parental separation and divorce - sleep disorders - anger management problems - parenting difficulties John's background experience is in community, educational and public mental health settings, including several year’s experience within the Child & Adolescent Mental Health Service at Monash Health; and more recently with Headspace Elsternwick and has most recently been employed as a school counsellor at the Caulfield Park Community School (now Oakwood School). As an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker with the Australian Association of Social Workers, I am eligible for registration with the Victorian Association of Family Therapy I am committed to the ethical standards of these Associations and ensure the highest standard of confidentiality and professional practice is maintained. |
